About us

A brotherhood where men remove the mask

Men Matter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and faith centered brotherhood that helps men grow emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and practically.

Our story

Men Matter started in July 2025 because a few of us got tired of pretending. Tired of the stiff upper lip, the “I’m good” when nobody asked how we really were. We didn’t need another program or another lecture. We needed a room full of brothers we could be straight with. In July 2026 we celebrated our first anniversary, and that handful of men in Columbia has turned into a brotherhood that reaches across the Midlands.

What we do is simple, even if it isn’t easy. We sit down together and tell the truth. We hold each other to what we said we’d do. We grow in our faith, our families, our work, and our heads. No matter where you are on that road, faith filled or just faith curious, there’s a seat for you here.

What makes us different

Plenty of places will tell you to man up. We’d rather help you take the mask off. There’s no performance here, no ranking, no trying to look like you have it figured out. You walk in as you are and you meet men who are doing the same. Plain honesty, real accountability, and the kind of brotherhood that holds up when life gets heavy. We’re rooted right here in the Midlands, and we know each other’s names, not just our numbers.

“This is not a program you attend. It is a brotherhood you belong to.”

Who we serve

  • Adult men age 21 and older across Columbia and the SC Midlands
  • Faith filled and faith curious men seeking brotherhood
  • Fathers and men navigating major life transitions
  • Churches, employers, and community organizations
  • Sponsors, donors, and prospective partners

The problem we solve

Many men experience isolation, lack trusted spaces for vulnerability, and have limited opportunities for healthy accountability and meaningful brotherhood. Men Matter gives men a safe community where they can communicate honestly, grow with purpose, and become stronger leaders in their homes and communities.

You don't have to do this alone.

Join the brotherhood, or fuel the work with a gift.
